Gymnastics in NSW to Return June 13

Updated 2 June 2020, 1:30pm

This morning (2 June 2020) the NSW Government announced the following:

“As of June 13, we are going to allow gymnasiums, fitness centres and studios like dance studios to be open.”

Following this announcement, Gymnastics NSW can confirm that the official start date for gymnastics clubs is June 13.

Under Government restrictions, groups of 10 individuals can be spread out within the facility, with up to 100 people allowed inside a facility at any given time. The number of people able to enter a gymnastics facility will be dependent on the club adhering to the 4sqm rule and 1.5m physical distancing requirements.

Gymnastics NSW will continue to work with the NSW Government and Department of Health to ensure that our clubs are equipped with the best information and resources as they prepare to begin classes again.

Gymnastics NSW Chief Executive Officer Aaron Bloomfield wishes to thank all NSW clubs in how they have handled this unprecedented time.

“I want to commend our clubs on the way that they continued to support their athletes and members in this time of unpredictability. The June 13 start date provides timefor our clubs to work through the Return to Gymnastics Plan and ensure the highest levels of hygiene practises, athlete wellbeing and member safety.

The closure of our clubs happened so suddenly. With two weeks to prepare, I am confident that Gymnastics NSW will return on June 13 better than ever."
