Coaching Staff

Gymnastics NSW has recruited some of the leaders of the sport of Gymnastics within Australia.  Meet The NSW High Performance Centre team.

Program Manager - Sam Palmer

Having worked at GNSW for a number of years, Sam manages the Trampoline Gymnastics & Tumbling High Performance Programs. After competing Tumbling on the International circuit for 9 years, gaining 3 Individual World titles, 2 Individual European titles, 7 World Cup Medals and leading teams to 3 medal placing’s on the world stage, Sam migrated to Australia in 2009. She has since, worked to assist with the development of Tumbling in Australia. Sam will liaise with the High Performance coaches to support and manage the program. 


High Performance Coach - Brett Austin

Brett was the National Coach for the successful bronze medal winning men’s trampoline team at the 2013 World Championships. 2014 sees Brett celebrate 46 years of official involvement with trampolining. As an athlete, he won a total of 6 gold’s, 3 silvers and 2 bronze at the World Open Championships and he has judged at 2 Olympic Games, chairing in London. Brett has been the NSW head State coach since 2001 and currently holds the National Coach position for Gymnastics Australia. He is the only gymnast currently recognised in the NSW Sports Hall of Fame.

High Performance Coach - Belinda Cox

Belinda is currently the Gymsports Program Manager at Castle Hill RSL and has been involved as an athlete and official in Trampoline Sports for over 30 years. Currently a High Performance Gold Coach, National Coaching Course Presenter and FIG Judge, she is a part of the Gymnastics NSW and Gymnastics Australia Coaching Team. Belinda is also the National DMT Coordinator. She will be working as a coach to extend our high performance athletes as a part of this program. 

 High Performance Coach - Damien Ryan
Damian has been involved in Trampoline Sports for over 20 years. He was firstly involved as an athlete, where he competed at 15 National Championships and a total of 5 Senior World Championships. He is currently the Trampoline Sports Program Coordinator at Castle Hill RSL Gymnastics where he has been coaching for 10 years. Damian is a course presenter, FIG judge and was previously a member of the Gymnastics Australia Athletes Commission. Damian is excited to work with the GNSW Elite athletes in assisting them to achieve their goals.
