About Tumbling

Tumbling is a trampoline sporting discipline combining skills from Artistic Gymnastics with those of Trampolining. Developed by entertainers from the early times Tumbling is now a codified sport that is regulated and judged using specific equipment. One of many Gymsports, Tumbling is governed by the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG).

Tumbling is practised by both males and females, athletes perform two passes, each containing 8 acrobatic skills on a 25 metre long sprung track, only hands and feet are allowed to make contact with the floor and passes must be completed with a somersaulting skill. Athletes are judged on a combination of execution and difficulty value.

Collaborative Approach

Gymnastics NSW has partnered with Kachan School of Tumbling and Performance to form a High Performance Program. Having led the way for a number of years with a continuous flow of development athletes and results throughout all levels and international competition, the aim of the partnership is to work closely together to support the continued success, ensuring a strong underpinning development pathway and backing of the elite athletes.
