Shire Gymnastics

Shire Gymnastics is a small club located in the Sutherland Shire. They are proud to host 3 competitive gym sports- WAG, MAG and RG as well as a fun & progressive recreational program for Kindy through to Teens.
The club has had a large increase in members due to new infrastructure in the area, increasing our social media posts and general word of mouth from current clients.

Contribution to Gymnastics: Shire Gymnastics Provides Volunteers to help out during the level 7-10 competitions and Judges for all GNSW events. Elenore Turner is the NSW Women's Judging Coordinator and Amy Beth Owen sits on the Rhythmic Gymnastics Gymsport Committee and was a  co-contributor  on the Gymnastics Australia’s ALP working party and assisted with the development of the recently released RG Australian Levels Program..   

Development Activities: Club development starts at the base with many of our senior athletes gaining their judging or coaching accreditation.
Shire have also commenced a Junior Development program for our younger (3-4 year old) gymnasts keen to one day compete. They provide 2 high schools in the area with a safe, fun and educational school
sport program weekly and are inclusive of any gymnast with a disability keen to learn.

Shire celebrate the abilities of all participants. One of their gymnasts in level 4 is an amputee and competes in the national stream against fully able competitors and holds her own.

They provide our staff with paid for training programs they are interested including upgrading their current accreditation and attending training events held
by Gymnastics NSW and Australia such as the Spin to Win camp.

Competition results:
Shire was named the combined club of the year at the 2017 State Clubs Championships. 

In 2017, Shire Gymnastics had 2 WAG National Champions, 1 MAG 2nd overall At Nationals and 7 National/ Border Challenge representatives.

To this point we have had 4 State Champions and are the 2017 State Club

Club owner- Meagan Cox was nominated for Gymnastics Australia's Development Coach of the year.
