Spring State Championships 

 

What a weekend of Gymnastics! The 8th & 9th of September saw clubs from around NSW come together at the Sydney Aquatic Gymnastics Centre for the 2018 Spring State Championships. An action packed two days saw athletes competing in four gymsports, with Acrobatic Level 3A-5 State Championships, Trampoline Levels State Championships and Men’s and Women’s State Clubs Championship.  
 
In the Trampoline competition, athletes were vying for the title of State Level Champion. Athletes competed all the way from level 1 up to Level 10, in the disciplines of Trampoline, Double Mini Trampoline & Tumbling. Bringing home the title of Champion Club was Kachan School of Tumbling and Performance.  

In Acrobatic Gymnastics athletes took to the floor on Saturday and competed as part of the Level 3 – 5A State Championships. Some of the highlights of the competition included a record number of competitors in the Level 5 Women’s Trio Division. 

The WAG and MAG competition saw athletes represent their clubs and compete in State Club Championships. 

The WAG competition featured athletes competing in level 5 –10. Consistent performances from Sydney Academy of Gymnastics saw the club take out the WAG Overall Club of the Year for another year, with runner up Manly Warringah Gymnastic Club and Sydney West Gymsports rounding out the top three. 

The MAG competition saw athletes compete in Division 1 – 9, with Sydney Hills Gymnastics taking out the title of MAG Overall Club of the Year. Closely following in 2nd Place was Manly Warringah Gymnastic Club along with Castle Hill Gymnastics finishing 3rd Place. 

The prestigious title of Overall Club of the Year was taken out by Manly Warringah Gymnastic Club after two successful days of competition. Finishing in 2nd position was Sydney Hills Gymnastics, followed by Shire Gymnastics. 

For all gymsports the event also served as great event for the athletes as they prepare for the 2018 National Clubs Carnival, which are taking place on the Gold Coast now and will see athletes compete across 7 Gymsports.
