Pickering Claims Youth Olympic Silver

17 year old Jessica Pickering will be returning to Australia this week as a Youth Olympic Silver Medallist, taking out the medal position at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In a tough final, Jess finished with a final score of 51.645, finishing between Chinese powerhouse Xinyi Fan (52.560) and Russia's Vera Beliankina (51.435).

Jessica, who trains at Eastlake Trampoline Sports under Australian Trampoline Coach Brett Austin, qualified second for the final and once again performed two clean routines in the Sunday night final.

It was a night of finals for the NSW athletes, with fellow team mate and High performance Squad member Liam Christie finishing in 7th position with a score of 52.995.

16 year old Liam, who trains at Sydney Gymnastics Centre under coaches Belinda Cox and Damian Ryan, qualified for finals in 8th position with a personal best score.  A finals position was the icing on the cake for Liam, who earlier in the week took out team gold in a Multidisciplinary, Multinational team even unique to the Youth Olympic Games.

We are so proud of the efforts from both of our athletes. Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi OI!
