2019 Gymnastics NSW Country Championships

Held from the 17-21 July, over 3000 athletes, spectators and officials gathered at Hunter Sports Centre for the 2019 Country Championships. It was a fantastic 5 days of gymnastics, celebrating the talent that we have within gymnastics clubs across NSW.  After a tough competition, Lismore based club North Coast Gymnastics titled overall champion club. Central West Gymnastics finished in second position, followed by Wollongong Gymnastics.

Our women’s gymnasts showcased their talents in all areas of their sport – from Special Olympics and Foundations, all the way up to our level 10 athletes. A big congratulations to our champion club Tamworth Gymnastics, with a tie for second place between Blackerts Gymnastics and Gunnedah Gymnastics.

Our acrobats joined the fun on Thursday, with new club Ultimate Gymnastics taking out the top spot. Second place went to Gosford Gymnastics, followed by Oak Flats Albion Park Gymnastics and Acrobatics.

In the men’s competition it was host club Hunter Sports Centre that took out the gold, with Armidale City Gymnastics and Wollongong City Gymnastics finishing just behind. It was Maitland PCYC that had the crowds on their feet, with head coach, and our sole master’s competitor, Ryan Phillips showing that a love of gymnastics never leaves you.

The trampoline competitors joined us for two action packed days of competition, with their twists and turns impressing both judges and spectators. Central West Gymnastics were titled champion club, followed by Central Coast Trampoline Sports and PCYC Orange.

Rhythmic gymnastics was next, with Advance Academy welcomed to the community as the new rhythmic club in the hunter region.  North Coast Gymnastics were titled the champion club, followed by Queanbeyan YMCA . Foster Gymnastics brought home the final spot finishing in 3rd position.

The event finished with a bang with over 200 TeamGym competitors moving their way through floor, trampoline and tumbling. As always, it was a high energy end to what was a fantastic week of competition.

A big congratulations to all of our athletes, and officials for a sensational week of competition.

The next stop for our gymnasts will be to take on the best in NSW at State Championships in Sydney later this year.
