Kids have the right to be safe
GNSW Supports the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
Gymnastics NSW, along side Gymnastics Australia and all states and territories are committed to the safety, wellbeing, and empowerment of all children and young people accessing our programs and services.
We stand by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child that just like adults, every child has rights that deserve to be respected and children have the right to have these communicated in a way they understand.
As stated in the Gymnastics Australia Child Safe Statement "As the leaders responsible for Gymnastics around the country, we will work together to ensure a child safety culture and a safe and inclusive environment for all children participating in gymnastics clubs throughout Australia. Our commitment encompasses the rights and wellbeing of our personnel, members, contractors and volunteers and requires their active participation in building and maintaining a secure environment for all participants. We also acknowledge that these groups and individuals provide a valuable contribution to the positive experiences of children involved in our sport."
Gymnastics NSW Compliance Officer Kim Creamer is excited to be able to educate and celebrate the rights of our young people.
Ms Creamer said; “In promotion of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child and together with National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, each week GNSW will be sharing a child’s right via our social media channels...and keep a look out for child friendly posters that will be available to each club from 2020”.
